Welcome to New Zealand!
We spent 3 days (2 nights) in New Zealand on a stop over, so we didn't
have time to see everything. We spent one night in Auckland which was
a very clean and modern city. We then drove to Rotorua (pronounced
Rotoe Rewa) where volcanic activity is always present and can be observed.
New Zealand Countryside This is pretty much what the North
Island of New Zealand looks like. The hills have formed from all
the volcanic activity and most are completely covered with grass
and ...
Sheep!
New Zealand has many times more sheep than people and they sure
have no problems climbing hills.
Rotorua Volcanic Region
This area is 3 hours outside Auckland and is facinating. You
can view the world's largest hot spring (water temp 200 degrees) or
sit on the edge of a volcanic crater that has filled with water like
Monica is doing in this picture. The water in this crater is 60 feet
deep and has a temperature of over 125 degrees.
